The open lid is required for regular use and the closed lid allows the urine canister to be closed in such a way that the toilet can be closed normally for transport.

What a great system. I only wish the lid with the open seal came with more than one, or that Boxio would let us buy the seals separately. I didn’t need the lids, but I definitely wished I could have purchased several seals, as they needed replacing more often than the lids.

I got the whole "set of spare parts" for my Boxio and just about had to replace the "poop container" when it slipped out of my hands and into the campground dumpster while I was throwing away a full bag! Fortunately, I was able to (just barely) reach the container, so I still have my spare.
